Creating Curated Supply Deals in Commerce Grid
Follow these 5 easy steps to create a deal in Commerce Grid.
Step 1: Setup Seat ID
First, make sure the buyer's Seat ID is set up in the system. If it already exists, move on to Step 2. To set up a Seat ID:
Click the Seats link in the left-hand navigation.
Then, click the Create button.
In the pop-up window, fill out the following fields:
Name: Provide a memorable name for the Seat you are setting up (i.e. "Client Name - DSP Name")
Seat ID: Input the Seat ID for the DSP provided by the buyer
DSP: Select the DSP you are targeting from the dropdown list. If you don't see the DSP you are looking to target, reach out to your Commerce Grid Support Team
Click Save to save your changes.
Step 3: Create a Supply Deal
Create a Supply Deal
Creating a Supply Deal is the first step to curating supply in Commerce Grid.
Expand the Trading section of the left-hand navigation and select Supply Configuration. If you previously kept the Create Supply Deal for this segment toggle on when creating a Search Intent segment, you should see the corresponding Supply Deal within the data table.
To create a new Supply Deal, click the Create button.
In the pop-up window, fill out the following fields:
Basics
Name: Enter a name for your Supply Deal
Dates: Set start and end dates & times. Time zone is always UTC. For ‘always on’ deals, extend the end date out several years
Status: Make sure the Status is set to Active
Supply Bid Type: Choose "Static" or "Dynamic" as your deal type. If Static, set a floor price for your deal. Static deals are fixed-price and always bid the same amount. Dynamic deals pass through bids from the DSP
If you selected a Dynamic deal, you will notice a toggle appear for “Optimal Price Discovery.” This is Commerce Grid's proprietary bid shading tool that predicts the optimal clearing price for specific inventory, allowing buyers to bid the lowest possible amount & still win the bid. Toggle "Optimal Price Discovery" on to activate on your deal
Main Targeting
Domain List: Select a Domain list to target or block on this deal. Domain lists must be created in advance under the System menu
App List: Select an App list to target or block on this deal. App lists must be created in advance under the System menu
IAB Category: Select an IAB category or categories to target or block on this deal. Use the dropdown at the top to toggle between IAB Category and IAB Subcategory or use the Search bar
Geo: Select geographic areas to target or block on this deal. Geo filters can be assigned at the country, state/province/region, or city level. Use the Search bar to find the geo you would like to target or block. Note: Always apply Geo-targeting to filter the inventory to the geo the campaign is running in. This ensures Commerce Grid only sends traffic in applicable markets to minimize QPS and unneeded traffic. Geo settings within the DSP should mirror the Geo settings applied within the Deal for enhanced match rates and performance.
Postal Code List: Select a Postal Code list to target or block on this deal. Postal Code lists must be created in advance under the System menu
Segment Targeting: Any proprietary data segments uploaded into Commerce Grid or standard 3rd party data segments are available for targeting here. Select the appropriate Data Provider from the dropdown, then click the box to select from a list of available segments. If targeting multiple segments from a single Data Provider, use the Boolean logic operators to separate them. To target segments from another Data Provider, click the + to reveal a new selection window. Note: If segments from multiple Data Providers are targeted, they are included with the "OR" Boolean logic operator by default
Search Intent Segment Targeting: Click on the box to review the list of available Search Intent segments or start typing the segment ID or name to locate
Extended Identifier Targeting: Select specific Identifiers to target or block on this deal
Viewability Target (Display Only): For Display deals, select a viewability definition and input a viewability target
Inventory Type: Select Web inventory, App inventory, both, or neither
Media Type: Select Display, Native, or Video. Only one selection can be made per deal
Target Video Completion Rate (Video Only): For Video deals, input a target video completion rate
Video Placement (Video Only): For Video deals, select the appropriate video placement types
SSP Targeting: Select specific SSPs to target or block on this deal. By default, all SSPs are enabled
Publisher Targeting Type: If applicable, select "Publisher" or "Publisher List" and target or block the appropriate Publishers or Publisher Lists
Tag ID: Paste specific Tag IDs to include or exclude
SSP Deal ID: Input the SSP Deal ID here if applicable
Optional Targeting
Device Type: Select all applicable Device Type(s)
Device Model: Select specific Device Models to target or block
Device Language: Select specific Device Languages to target or block
User Agent: Select specific User-Agents to target
Size Targeting: Click the + to input specific size targeting to include. Click the + again to include multiple sizes
Review your deal details and click Save to create the deal.
Step 4: Create a Supply Package
Create a Supply Package and Demand Deal ID
The next step in the process is to package one or more supply deals into what will become a Demand Deal, with a Deal ID that can be provided to your buyer.
Expand the Trading section of the left-hand navigation and select Packages.
To create a new Supply Package, click the Create button.
In the pop-up window, fill out the following fields:
Name: Enter a Name for the Supply Package
Status: Make sure the Status is set to Active
Supply deal selection: Select the Supply Deals (created in Step 3 of this process) you want included in this package, which will become the Deal ID you give to your buyer. You can include one Supply Deal or multiple. This feature allows you to add new or change existing Supply Deals at any time without having to provide a new Deal ID to your buyer with each update
Seat Selection: Select the DSP this deal will be targeting and the specific seat of your buyer (set up in Step 1 of this process)
Click Save to save your changes.
Step 5: Assigning Curation Fees to Demand Deals
Assigning a Curation Fee to your Demand Deal
You have now created a Demand Deal ID. Once that has been activated by the buyer, it will send through the supply that you configured in Steps 2-4 of this process to the DSP Seat ID that you set up in Step 1.
Once you have created your Supply Package, expand the Trading section of the left-hand navigation and select Demand Deals.
Find the Demand Deal you just created. The Deal ID displayed in the leftmost column of the data table is what you can give to your buyer to activate in their DSP.
Before sharing the Deal ID with your buyer, you will need to assign a Curation Fee to your Demand Deal. Click into your Demand Deal and navigate to the Curation Fee Type section. Curation Fees can be Flat CPM or % of media based - and are taken as a bid reduction (the DSP's bid gets reduced by the fee amount before being submitted to the Publisher's header).
Select Flat CPM or Percent and input your desired Curation Fee. Remember that Curation Fees can be whatever you choose, but higher fees have the potential to hurt your win rates.
Click Save to save your changes.
Congratulations, you have created your Curated Supply Deal in Commerce Grid! Once your buyer has activated the Deal ID in their DSP, check back on the Demand Deals data table to view performance metrics from the past 24 hours.
