Troubleshooting Deals Performance
After setting up your deal, it is important to monitor the Deal Health. This means reviewing the statistics for your deals to see how they are performing.
Below are a few use cases to help with troubleshooting:
Not Seeing Avails
Seeing Low Avails
0 or Low % of Yes Bids
Seeing Yes Bids but 0 or Low Imps
If there are No Bids on your deal but no Yes Bids
Low Bid Rate (<3%)
Low Win Rate (<10%)
Not Seeing Avails
Issue | Possible Cause | Actions to Take |
Not Seeing Avails | Traffic being sent in the Deal is not compatible with the targeting applied | Double check the targeting settings applied to the Deal in the Publisher UI. Send more traffic that aligns with the targeting applied in the Deal’s settings |
Targeting isn’t being passed in the requests | Commerce Grid Account team checks whether or not targeting is being passed appropriately in requests | |
Start and End dates of the deal are incorrect. |

Seeing low Avails
Issue | Possible Cause | Actions to Take |
Seeing low Avails | Targeting is too restrictive | Adding multiple settings like small geos, limited supply, and audiences (with deals) do not work well together and usually end up being too restrictive, preventing deals from working. High-volume deals are recommended. Similar to campaigns targeting small segments, deals that only apply to small segments will have low availability. Keep buyer expectations realistic for delivery on a deal for small segments. |
Limited demand activation | Commerce Grid will automatically mark “deals with limited demand activation’ when they are older than three days but are not serving impressions. For deals that are serving fewer than 10 impressions per week, we will limit the volume of traffic we distribute through to DSPs to 95% of the bidstream, with 5% left as exploration traffic. This will result in a decrease in outbound traffic and low avails, which will be noted in the deal performance summary in the UI. Once buying activity increases and the number of filled impressions exceeds 10 per week, we will resume by full volume of traffic we distribute through to DSPs to 100% of the bidstream. |
0 or Low % of Yes Bids
Issue | Possible Cause | Actions to Take |
0 or Low % of Yes Bids | DSP not bidding on the inventory because DSP has additional restrictive targeting applied | Work with Buyer to check DSP settings and remove extraneous targeting
Advise buyers against adding advanced targeting to deals campaigns, as this will narrow their campaign's reach. |
Deal ID has not been shared with the Buyer or Buyer has not targeted deal yet | Work with Buyer to check if the deal has been targeted | |
Deal ID and Seat Id is incorrect | Confirm with the buyer that they have the correct Deal ID and they have sent you the correct Seat ID. Naming for Seat ID differs depending on the DSP, but it is typically a numerical sequence. If you or the client is in doubt, the buyer should contact the DSP to confirm the information. | |
| Confirm with the client they are buying into the correct SSP. DSPs usually require that the client indicate which SSP they are buying from. This is often referred to as the “Supply Source.” Commerce Grid should be selected.

Seeing Yes Bids but 0 or Low Imps
Issue | Possible Cause | Actions to Take |
Seeing Yes Bids but 0 or Low Imps | Incorrect attribution in GAM | Check that the line item in GAM has been created correctly and that the Deal is attributed to the correct publisher |
Ensure your buyer has the base bid that aligns with the floor price within their DSP | If your deal has a floor price attached to it, make sure to set the default bid at or above this deal price. |
If there are No Bids on your deal but no Yes Bids,
Issue | Possible Cause | Actions to Take |
---|---|---|
If there are No Bids on your deal but no Yes Bids, | This indicates that the floor price requirement isn’t met by the buiyer. | Ask them raise their base bids in their DSP to be at or above the floor price. |
Low Bid Rate (<3%)
Issue | Possible Cause | Actions to Take |
---|---|---|
Low Bid Rate (<3%) | Buyer may have placed a daily cap on deal | Work with Buyer to understand what additional restrictions have been placed within DSP |
Low Win Rate (<10%)
Issue | Possible Cause | Actions to Take |
---|---|---|
Low Win Rate (<10%) | DSP not bidding on the inventory because DSP Bids set too low | Check Win eCPM and Bid eCPM. If Bid eCPM is too low, work with Buyer to increase the DSP Bid so that win rate for the Deal increases |
